WHY I CHOOSE TO USE THE 'BEST'

It's a long story that takes me back about fifty years, you may call me a 'Tackle Tart' if you wish but it will fall on deaf ears. I recall an Irishman the late Jim Sullivan who lived in Manchester a good friend of my father's coming to stay, I was about eight years old at the time and he brought his fishing tackle in from the car and left it in the hallway at my home, I sat alongside it admiring the 'Gold Medal' and 'Palakona' built cane rods adorned with 'Perfect' reels, the quality oozed out of them and I was 'hooked'.... enough of that, when I started to earn a living I also started to collect 'Hardy' tackle and it served me well over the years.

I share a lifetime love affair with 'Hardy Tackle'. Whilst today I 'renew' simply to stay with the latest designs, the tackle over the years has been exceptionally well made and suited all my needs.

Back in 1983 I was the proud owner of a 'Hardy Fred Buller Drifter' Rod and 'Hardy Soverign' with an array of 'Perfect Reels' and 'Sovereign Reels', I used this tackle in my 'Competitive Days' to secure nine straight wins in 'Fishing Competitions' that I entered, this included 'the 'Brown Bowl' in the Home International on the Loch of Harray in Orkney, Club and Sponsored Competitions like the 'Benson and Hedges', 'Wychwood'. I wrote to 'Hardy's in Alnwick to inform them of my proud association with their tackle and achievement and they responded by including me in the 'Hardy Hall of Fame' something I did not know existed, until they sent me the Certificate and Badge.

Today I am proud to be associated with the 'Team' at 'Hardy /Greys/ Chubb/ Fishpond' as a member of their Academy, IF YOU WANT TO VIEW ALL THE TACKLE AND MORE USE THE 'LINK' OFF THIS SITE TO THE HARDY ACADEMY. The tackle they are developing and supplying, is seriously 'Top Drawer' stuff and whilst I do not posess the full range of 'kit' they supply to the retail trade I certialy have all that I need for the 'Fishing and Instructing' that I do. I am an avid supporter and use the following.

For my Salmon fishing I use a four piece Hardy's 15ft Demon, I also use the Hardy Uniqua 15' four piece. The new Mach 2 Lines are very good. I also use for Single handed and Seatrout a 'Zane' 9' 6# with a Zane reel, the best I have ever had the good fortune to own and use.

For Trout fishing in small stillwaters and rivers, I use the Hardy Angel 2 TE 9' 5# with an Angel TE Reel and a Greys Platinum WF line. Hardy Uniqua 9'5# fitted with an Uniqua reel for lighter river work.

For boat fishing I have the Hardy Demon 9' 6# 4 piece with the Demon reel and multitude of spare spools and lines, truly superb.

For my Wet fly boat fishing in the traditional manner I have an 11' 6# Hardy Sirrus upopn which I use the new Hardy Demon reel, the feel when using this rod is simmilar to the action in a cane rod....minus the weight....and through varying presentation styles I have not handled any rod that comes near the quality in the action of the Sirrus for this kind of fishing.

Now 'Hardy /Greys' are also supplying the 'Fishpond' Bags and I have the 'San Juan' Chest pack and the 'Coyote Flytying kit Bag', again very practical and well made kit.

If I had to choose two words to describe this tackle in its entirety it would be 'UNRIVALED QUALITY'
