'IF YOU HAVE NOT SAMPLED 'TRUE WILD BROWN TROUT' FISHING THEN THIS IS THE ONE FOR YOU'

31st May 2010

Darren Bell's group caught 40 Brown Trout between them today mainly on 'Shuttlecocks'

Sorry didn't get a pic of Paul with a Mountain Lake Brownie, he did catch his share though, here is one of him on the River yesterday casting dries to rising fish. Very nice tight loop!

Just as I suspected March the 26th a spring like day made the necessary hike and arrived at the waters edge for a trial session. Encountered a serious hatch of small chironomids, a size 18 black shuttlecock was the medicine and in two hours I accounted for 17 Brown Trout, as wild as they come, my smallest was approximately 6oz and the largest 10oz. This place is exclusive and is totally 'Private' and it comes as part of a package deal.

This other Mountain Lake I have access to has a boat on it and the trout are less numerous but of better quality.I heard a Grouse there, some pintail ducks, a Red Kite soared above, truly magical and on the 15th April 2007 there was a great hatch of Olives a month early this year. I caught seven wonderful trout all over the pound mark. If you fancy a day out here fishing with me, then I can arrange it.

This next trout if from Claerwen Reservoir and fattened up on the Coch y Bonddu Beetle.

SUPERB LOOKING TROUT LIKE THESE ARE ENCOUNTERED, THIS ONE WAS CAUGHT AT 'CLAERWEN' IN A COCH Y BONDDU HATCH IN LATE JUNE.

NORTH WALES IS STREWN WITH 'MOUNTAIN LAKES' SOME OF WHICH HOLD WILD BROWN TROUT, MOST OF THE LAKES ARE EITHER PRIVATELY OWNED OR ARE RUN BY ANGLING CLUBS. I HAVE LIVED IN NORTH WALES ALL MY LIFE AND I AM YET TO VISIT SOME OF THESE MAGNIFICENT LOCATIONS...HAVING SAID THAT I HAVE VISITED QUITE A FEW AND CAUGHT SOME OF THE WONDERFUL TROUT THAT THEY HOLD. THESE ARE NOT LARGE FISH BY ANY STANDARDS 'THREE TO A POUND' IS THE WAY TO DESCRIBE THEM, IN THE MAIN, BUT SOME DO AND THESE ARE CLOSELY HELD SECRETS.......AND ARE SET IN THE MOST MAGNIFICENT SCENERY YOU ARE LIKELY TO ENCOUNTER. NOT ALL ARE ACCESIBLE BY ROAD AND WALKS UPHILL FOR UP TO 2 MILES IS NECESSARY, SO NOT FOR THE FAINT HEARTED......COME AND JOIN ME ON ONE OF THESE OUTINGS.....BEST TIME IS FROM MID MAY TO JULY AND THEN SEPTEMBER.

THIS IS THE KIND OF TROUT WE CAN ENCOUNTER

FANCY A TRIP TO ONE OR MORE, I CAN ARRANGE AND ACCOMPANY YOU GUIDE YOU OR FISH WITH YOU,SOME OF THE LAKES HAVE BOATS ON OR ALLOW FLOAT TUBING.
