Llyn Derwen fishing well to dry fly and small nymphs at the moment, small nymphs on intermediate lines accounted for 16 fish in the 2lb bracket in a three hour session this morning, all in superb condition and fighting fit, well worth a visit.
UPDATE 4TH APRIL 2008
'Llyn Derwen is fishing well to Dry Fly methods' here are some snaps taken today, the fish were caught on a size 18 shuttlecock buzzer.
The lake nearest to the house starts in the top corner with depths of five feet dropping to eight feet between the islands. Half way down the lake the depth drops to ten feet before sloping to sixteen feet at the dam end and is four acres in size. The Lake nearest the road is much deeper with depths of ten feet to twenty feet and this is approximately three acres in size. There exists a head of 'wild brown trout'in addition to another seven types of stocked trout. Rainbow, Blue, Golden, Blond, Brook, Tiger and Brown. The fishery records are Rainbow 16 lbs,Brown 4 lbs(wild)
Golden 4.9 lbs,Blue 7 lbs, Blond 2.5 lbs, Tiger 3.5 lbs, Brook 3.8lbs There is also present a head of Carp(common) that are caught on fly.

HOW TO GET THERE
The area of 'Derwen' is situated between the B5105 Ruthin to Cerrig-y-Drudion road and the A494 Ruthin to Corwen road, there are several ways to get to the fishery. Off the A494 at Bryn-Saith-Marchog take the road opposite the garage towards 'Derwen' and follow this road through the village, the fishery can be found on the right.(Approximately 2 miles from A494). Off the B5105 approximately 2 miles on the Cerrig-y-Drudion side of Clawddnewydd in Clocaenog Forest take the road towards 'Derwen' and follow this to the first 'T' junction, turn left and the fishery is on the left within a few hundred yards.(Approximately 1 mile)from B5105. Off the A5 near to the 'Goat' Public House,Maerdy, take the road towards Betws-Gwerfil-Goch, travel through the village and take the first left into Melin-y-Wig, follow this road through the village, over a humped back bridge and continue towards 'Derwen' the fishery will be found on the left hand side.(Approximately 5 miles from A5).
